Compatibility

  • Any new faucet must be compatible with your existing structure and plumbing unless you are building new or reconstructing your sink. Let our KENT pros help you find the best model for your home before you begin removing your old faucet.
  • Your installation will vary slightly depending on the faucet style, so always review the manufacturer's instructions before beginning your installation and consult an expert whenever in doubt.

Making the Switch

  • Turn off the water supply or power to your sink. Locate stop valves under your sink or shut off the water to the house. Take clear photos of the existing plumbing configuration for reference during reassembly.
  • Use a bowl or bucket to catch water as you disconnect the water supply lines. Use appropriate wrenches and, if needed, apply loosening oil to stubborn nuts. Support any pipes passing through cabinets to prevent damage.
  • Remove all mounting hardware and caulking from both above and below your sink. Clean the area thoroughly to eliminate residue, then dry completely before proceeding.
  • Install the new faucet by following the removal steps in reverse. Tighten all connections securely, and use your reference photos to ensure correct reassembly.

Next Steps

  • Begin by setting your sink’s deck or base plate in position. Attach and secure it following the manufacturer's instructions to ensure a proper fit.
  • Align the hot and cold lines as necessary for single or doublehandle faucets, and secure the mounting gear to the underside of the faucet. This will include gaskets, nuts and bolts to secure the frame of your faucet and supply line ports.
  • Connect the corresponding supply lines (refer to the original setup you recorded at the beginning) and water supply valves.
  • Turn your water supply back on and give your faucet and supply lines a thorough flush to remove any debris.
