Summer of DIY: Patio Furniture Refresh

Refreshing your patio furniture can give your outdoor space a new look and make it more inviting for you and your guests. It doesn't have to be a difficult or time-consuming process. Here are some steps you can take to refresh your patio furniture.

Window and Door Screen Types Guide

Clean your furniture

Before you do anything else, give your furniture a good cleaning. This can be done with mild soap and water or a specialized outdoor furniture cleaner. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions and rinse thoroughly with water.

Inspect for damage

Inspect your furniture for any damage or signs of wear and tear. Look for cracks, splits, rust, or any other issues that may need repair.

Repair any damage

If you find any damage, take the necessary steps to repair it. This may involve replacing parts, sanding and refinishing, or painting.

Add cushions or pillows

One of the easiest ways to refresh your patio furniture is to add new cushions or pillows. Choose colors and patterns that complement your outdoor space and existing furniture.

Consider a new coat of paint

If your furniture is looking worn, consider refreshing it with a fresh coat of paint. Depending on the size of your furniture, you may need more than one paintbrush/roller. Check out our large variety here. Ensure you choose a paint that is designed for outdoor use and follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper application.

Add new accessories

Add new accessories such as an outdoor rug, lanterns, or planters to help tie the look together. If you want to take it one step further, consider creating a specific outdoor lounging space. You can do this in a number of ways, like setting down patio stones or crushed stones, adding a firepit to the center, or even adding an accent table.

Store your furniture properly

When the outdoor season is over, be sure to store your furniture for many more years of use. Clean it thoroughly, cover it with a protective cover, and store it in a dry, sheltered location. This way, your hard work keeps its shine!
