Installation and Electrical Requirements

Perfect Aire ductless mini splits require 208/230V service and up to a 60 amp breaker, depending on the size of the system. Because the refrigerant in the line set needs a precise vacuum and connections, mini splits must be installed by a qualified HVAC professional. Our specialists can help determine the right system for your needs - contact Kent’s installation services to book your consultation!

Frequently Asked Questions

?
Q. Are mini-split heat pumps more energy-efficient than traditional HVAC systems?
A: Yes, mini-splits are often more energy-efficient than traditional HVAC systems because they don't require ductwork, which can lead to energy losses due to leaks and poor insulation. Mini-splits also allow for zoned heating and cooling, which can save energy by only conditioning the rooms that are in use.
?
Q. How many indoor units can a mini-split heat pump system support?
A:The number of indoor units that a mini-split system can support depends on the capacity of the outdoor unit and the layout of your home or building. Our largest outdoor unit can support up to five indoor units. The combined BTUs of your indoor units should not exceed the BTU capacity of the outdoor unit.
?
Q. Can I install a mini-split heat pump myself?
A: A licensed HVAC contractor must install mini-split systems to ensure proper installation and avoid any potential safety hazards. Improper installation can also lead to reduced efficiency and increased maintenance costs. Depending on your current electrical service, a licensed electrician may also be required to upgrade your service before installation.
?
Q. How often do mini-split heat pump systems need to be serviced?
A: Mini-split systems should be serviced annually by a licensed HVAC contractor to ensure proper operation and to maintain their efficiency. Regular maintenance, like cleaning the air filters and removing large debris, can also help prevent breakdowns and extend the system’s life.
?
Q. Are mini-splits quiet?
A: Mini-splits are generally quieter than traditional HVAC systems. They have low-decibel indoor unit ratings and features like variable-speed compressors and fans to reduce noise levels.
?
Q. How much do mini-split heat pump systems cost?
A: The cost of a mini-split system can vary depending on several factors, such as the size of the system, the number of indoor units, and the complexity of the installation. Mini-split systems are now more affordable with the availability of tax credits and rebates.
