The external outlet is very easy to put on the gutter. Simply stick the 90°-degree front tab in under the bead of the gutter. Roll the outlet back and under the gutter. It will click into place. Press down on the gutter to get a firm connection. Bend the back tab of the outlet over and down into the gutter. This secures the outlet onto the gutter. You do not need to caulk, rivet or screw to make this product work. The outlet is almost 9" wide on the gutter, allowing for a 6-7" hole to be cut in the gutter. You cut the hole first and bend down the edge of the hole creating a drip edge. The outlet guarantees free flowing water without any obstructions at all.
