For this project you will need:
Laser Level | Thin-Set |
V-Notch Trowel | Hand Sanding Block |
Shower Membrane | Ultra-Lite Mortar |
Tile Spacers | Grout |
Grout Float | Grout Sponge |
Silicone | Appropriate Safety Equipment |
Step 1
Attach shower base to floor using rail and secure to studs in wall. Make sure there is proper stud support in surrounding walls to support tile and glass shower doors. Select where the shower head and hardware will be in the shower and attach rough-in valves.
Step 2
Install 1/2” mould resistant drywall into shower area. Tape and mud seams. Once set and sanded apply membrane to wall with thin-set using a v-notch trowel. Allow time to set.
Step 3
Using a laser level, mark out where your tile will start on the bottom and also on the sides based on your shower door measurement and attach tile edger.
Step 4
Using ultra-lite mortar, a notch trowel and tile spacers, begin tiling up the wall.
Step 5
Once the mortar is set (24hrs) remove tile spacers and mix up grout. Using a grout float, begin working grout down into tile spaces moving the float in a diagonal movement. Then using a grouting sponge wipe down the tile and make sure the grout is even.
Step 6
Once the grout is set, wipe the remaining haze off of the tile and using a silicone, seal the edges and corners.
